How do I search for jobs and internships?
To search for jobs and/or internships:

  1. After logging into Port Triton, select the Search Jobs & Internships (for Students and Alumni) link.
  2. Search broadly at first. For example, check only Internship and Paid in the job type. If the resulting list is too long then go back and narrow the search by checking more fields.
  3. Use the keyword search field if you are looking for more specific things such as a particular employer, or specific terminology (such as C++).

What are the three listing types?
To narrow your job search results, only click on one or two of the listing type boxes below:

  • Multi-School Job Postings listings that employers submitted to UCSD as well as one or more other colleges using NACElink.
  • UCSD Only Job Postings jobs submitted only to UCSD.
  • On-Campus Interviewing (OCI) Job Descriptions - positions through our On-Campus Interviewing program.

How do I view the job listings?
On the Search Results page, click on the Position Title or the ID number to read, apply, or print the job description.

How do I apply for a particular job?
Follow the steps below to apply:

  1. Some organization names on the listings will be a link to the company website. Use the link to research the company a different browser window.
  2. The listing will contain qualifications or other criteria entered by the employer. Review this information carefully.
  3. At the end of the listing, you will see how to apply. If you submit your resume via mail or fax, your application history (found within the Manage My Job Search link) will not reflect it.
  4. If the employer has chosen to accept applications using the Port Triton system, click on the link that says "Click here to apply now!" or some other text entered by the employer. If taken to the company Web site, apply as indicated. If you are taken to the System Application page, you can choose to send any or all of the following from your documents stored in Port Triton:
  • Resume (you must have a resume denoted as primary and stored in Port Triton.)
  • Cover letter
  • Unofficial transcripts
  • Other job search documents
  1. Choose the documents you wish to send. Using the Send Application link at the bottom of the page will send the selected documents to the employer. You will receive a confirmation, and a record of your application will be stored in your application history.

What should I do if a job listing seems questionable?
The UCSD Career Services Center welcomes Equal Opportunity Employers to recruit for positions through the Port Triton job/internship postings, on-campus interviews, company presentations, and job fairs.  While we currently monitor the recruiting process of participating employers, we do not assume responsibility for errors, omissions and misrepresentation in job descriptions, qualifications and remuneration. Jobs posted on the NACELink system are not all reviewed before posting.  We urge you to use caution, common sense, and good judgment in your interactions with all employers.  Do not disclose social security numbers, credit card information or bank account numbers to unknown employers. If you feel that an employer has misrepresented an employment opportunity, please contact the UCSD Career Services Center immediately by phone (858) 534-0153 or
email.

What is the UCSD Alumni Job Search link?
Users with a BA or BS degree may also use the UCSD Alumni Job Search link on the desktop. Jobs included within this link are different from the jobs found in the Search Jobs & Internships (For Students and Alumni) link on Port Triton.

How is the Alumni Job Search different?
The alumni job search is different because it:

  • Includes all jobs on company Web sites, giving you access to opportunities not posted elsewhere on the Internet.
  • Sends you directly to the employer's Web site where you can research information about the company's products, services, benefits, management style, culture, and more.
  • Allows you to establish ongoing interactive relationships with potential employers that could offer access to additional job leads in the future; and just like Port Triton,
  • Is committed to the privacy and confidentiality of personal information and does not serve as a commercial third-party vendor archiving your resume and data.

What kinds of search criteria are available in the UCSD Alumni Job Search?
You may conduct searches by employer name, jobs, and job location.
